December 10th, 1935 - May 18th, 2005

Louis Raniszewski joined the Cape May County Sheriff's Office as the Work Release Administrator in 1990 after retiring from the Wildwood Police Department as a Lieutenant. Since that time, Lou had participated in and even initiated many programs sponsored by the Sheriff's office. He was in charge of the S.L.A.P. program, the Buckle Up Stencil program, The Boost America and Bounty Campaigns, The Child Safety Seat program and was instrumental in developing the Delaware River and Bay Authority partnership. He was an Executive Board member of the South Jersey Traffic Alliance. Lou was very much involved with the crime prevention unit and dressed up as McGruff the Crime dog on several occasions. He also took it upon himself to fill a need in the community by collecting clothing and old eye glasses for those who needed them.

The South Jersey Traffic Safety Alliance has dedicated its 2005 Awards Program to Lou and he was Honored with a Lifetime Achievement  Award.

Lou started his career in 1960 as a summer police officer in Wildwood on scooter patrol and rose through the ranks to Lieutenant. He served 42 years in Law Enforcement and will be greatly missed by all of us.
