Law Enforcement Division

The  Law Enforcement Division has among its duties, the administration and enforcement of civil mandates emanating from the Superior Court of New Jersey. Those mandates include Sheriff's sales, serving of subpoenas, levies on wages and personal or real property as well as the security of the courts, Court House property and general area. This division also provides protection and security to judges, jurors, witnesses and anyone having business before the courts.

Additional services within the Law Enforcement Division include Warrant Service, the Crime Prevention Unit, Victim Assistance Unit, K-9 Unit which includes narcotic detection dogs, arson detection and tracking dogs, Field and Support Services, Identification Unit / Communications, Transportation Unit and Child Safety Unit. This division also includes the Crime Stoppers hot line, the emergency telephone system for the deaf and hearing impaired, and the Medical Examiner Assistance Unit.

On May 24, 2012 the Cape May County Sheriff's Office was recognized and accredited by the New Jersey State Association of Chief's of Police and is the sixth Sheriff's Office to be accredited in the State of New Jersey. Cape May County is the second entity in the State where the Sheriff's Office and Prosecutor's Office achieved accreditation.

On April 28, 2017 The Cape May County Sheriff's Office had it's first Re-Accreditation. We have successfully completed re-accreditation and we are compliant until March of 2020 when will prepare for another reaccreditation.
